Bleeding and Wounds

No matter how big or small if you notice a wound or active bleeding, do give us a call as soon as possible.

Active Bleeding:

• Apply pressure – bandage or anything you can find to stem the bleed
• Keep horse/pony calm
• Do not move them if it is severely bleeding

Nosebleeds:

• If the bleed is severe keep the horse calm and quiet and contact your vet immediately
• Make a note of it is both sides or just one nostril
• Move into a stable if possible

Wounds:

• If bleeding then please follow the above
• Take a photo, we may ask you to send one across to us
• Clean the wound if possible to start decontaminating the are
